OctonionicThe statue/building pictured on page 136 is the Tower of the Sun, a famous symbol of the World's Fair that has featured in works such as 20th Century Boys. Asari is probably more directly referencing the Yokohama Exotic Showcase ‘89 (in Japanese, but with some nice pictures).
The film talk at the beginning references Gunhed and Godzilla vs. Biollante. Kawakita Koichi (Ko) was the special effects director for Gunhed, which so impressed Toho that he replaced Nakano Teruyoshi (Shou) for handling effects on the Godzilla films, starting with Godzilla vs. Biollante. Su is suspected to be Suzuki Akira, a special effects director who worked on some of the early Godzilla films.
The unnamed native with a flower pot is probably Kobayashi Shinichirou, the dentist who wrote the story for Godzilla vs. Biollante.
