OctonionicCorona behaves in a perfectly reasonable manner, Tah continues his role as a punching bag, Laika does some cosplay, and this manga technically becomes a Chūshingura.
Unfortunately, I was hardly able to decipher enough characters to make out any of the book references on page 6. The two I'm definitely sure of are “Operation Evening” (which got a manga adaptation in 2009 that Mamoru Oshii worked on) and “Tokyo Blackout” (which had a film adaptation about the time of this manga), which are well-known SF novels of the era.
