OctonionicIn this chapter, we see the depths of Midori's desparation to take the class on a field trip that doesn't end in disaster. We also see some more of those space cats, which I'm still convinced are references to The Game of Rat and Dragon. Two of them get names in this chapter, Chibi (which is written in a way to indicate that it's a proper name, but is almost certainly from the Japanese word) and Koshka (the Japanese transliteration of the Russian word for “cat”, although it also shares a spelling with the Japanese name of the island Corsica).
When the first, shorter run of Carlvinson (in a different magazine) was compiled into a Tankoubon, these characters were also present for a short but distinct gag manga at the end. I'm still trying to find a scan of that one.
